Medium: Mixed Media

Art Walk station #6: Upcycled Blooms

I am Mary-Ann Alberga (she/they) and am a mixed media visual artist living and working in Burlington, Ontario.

I am a graduate of both YorkU (BA English 1998) and OCADU (BFA Drawing & Painting 2011). In my visual arts practice, I am inspired by the materials and processes of drawing, painting, printmaking, children’s art and up cycling found objects. My work is a meditation on the importance of play, the materiality of the handmade, the complexity of our sensory perception and the bittersweetness of nostalgic memory.

At the 2022 ArtWalk I am showing a series of commissioned portraits of people and domestic pets, most often together.  I truly enjoy working collaboratively with portraiture clients so if you are interested in a commission please reach out!
