Art Walk station #11: Art Demonstration

I have been making art since I was a very young child. I had supportive parents who encouraged my creativity and enrolled me in art classes and camps from a very young age. Art was a passion growing up, and I spent innumerable hours drawing in and out of school. I studied Visual Arts in University, mentoring under Oakville artist James Tughan, and planned to become an artist Educator for the Intermediate Division (Grades 7-10). Life took me on a different path, however, so now art has taken the place of a creative outlet which I enjoy on my down time!

Learning to draw with graphite, I moved to chalk pastel and from there experimented with acrylics, oil, watercolours and gouache (my current personal favourite). From making pieces primarily in black and white I am learning to use colour more readily. Loving illustrative, emotional, and story-telling styles, I take inspiration from artists like The Group of Seven, Michelle Morin, Loré Pemberton and Per Adolfsen.
