Deborah Parker

Deborah signs her artwork using her maiden name: D.J. WARD,

Medium: Watercolour

With a trained artist as a father and many painters in his family, drawing and painting/multimedia have been a large part of my life and education. I found most media easy to work in- pencil, ink, oil, and acrylics over the years with my weakness being in watercolour. So when I saw a trip to Tuscany in 2006 to see the sites and watercolour paint- I thought- perfect!

The following years I went to Greece, Sicily, Charlevoix, Bridgewater, Orillia, San Miguel, Mexico, and France with teachers and other painters. I take photographs now of scenes I might like to paint. My style of realist has progressed to a more impressionist approach, although upon request, I do realistic work. I enjoy adding ink to some realist water colour paintings especially when doing a painting of a home or cottage..

I have had 5 shows to-date. One at the Paletta Mansion (written up in the Burlington Post), in a café in Bronte, 2 garden shows in my yard, and a father/daughter show at Millcroft Golf Club (again in the Post). I have been actively painting between trips as well- with many commissions/cards/gifts. When working at home, it allows for the freedom to work and paint as I wish!
